The Supersport R SV (Stretch Version) is an evolution of the very successful Supersport model, but tweaked to give it a little more punch. It houses a 2.0L Ford Duratec engine that produces a generous 180 bhp that gets you from 0 to 62 MPH (100 KMH) in just 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 130 MPH (209 KMH)
The Supersport R has been refined to encompass many of the engineering developments and upgrades obtained from our experience of the various race models within the Caterham Motorsport series. With a limited slip differential and race inspired suspension, an increased rev limit and a tad more power, we truly believe the new Supersport R is a phenomenal and well balanced package and agree with the Tp Gear review that it is “The Pick”of the Caterham range. Fitted standard with a set of street-legal, semi-slick tyres, the Supersport R is the perfect tool for road and track use and guarantees to put a smile on your face and will leave you grinning long after you’ve switched off the engine and started planning your next drive.
The Supersport R is available with both the standard chassis and the wider-bodied ‘SV’ chassis. The standard chassis offers the compact lightweight dimensions that have made the Seven a legend in its 50 year history.
The SV chassis gives increased interior, feet, and luggage space due to the greater width and length of the car, making it suited for extended touring or for customers over 6’2″ in height. The SV also benefits from the additional stability offered by wide-track front suspension and increased range from a larger fuel tank, with only a 25kg weight penalty over the standard chassis. The Supersport R SV has a number of further benefits over the other models and is therefore is our choice of model for assembly in South Africa.
